L’Editoriale di Frank Barbaro: “Il vero pericolo per la pace”
Siamo in un periodo in cui il discorso ufficiale dei potenti sulla pace e sulla guerra viene accettato come una fedele rappresentazione della realtà.
Mentre vengono considerate fuori dalla realtà le persone che non accettano nozioni come guerre e bombe umanitarie e discorsi che individuano nella Corea del Nord, che ha surclassato i jihadisti, il pericolo principale per la pace.
Prevale in questo discorso (dei potenti) il concetto che sotto assedio non sono i milioni di persone nel modo che vivono quotidianamente male, se non addirittura in pericolo, ma i paesi che hanno goduto il massimo beneficio dell’industrializzazione e dello sviluppo umano.
Ma il pericolo per l’Occidente non viene dalla Corea del Nord e dalla sua disponibilità di armi nucleari, ma dalla insostenibilità del suo sistema economico e sociale e dal suo impatto sulla natura.
Sarebbe giusto e onesto chiedere alla Corea del Nord il disarmo se il richiedente si disarmasse contestualmente anch’esso.
Ricordo che ad oggi le bombe atomiche sulla popolazione le ha gettate la liberalissima America e non la totalitaria Corea del Nord.
Riconosco le difficoltà di autolimitarsi quando si è super-potenti come lo sono gli USA e in un clima dove il rispetto per il diritto internazionale viene meno.
Ma se la scena internazionale è ridotta a un Far West dove il prepotente con le armi più letali fa quello che gli pare, il vero pericolo per la pace, la libertà e la sovranità dei popoli, finché la Corea del Nord non attacca un altro paese, sono gli Stati Uniti d’America.
The real danger to peace
At the moment the official talk of the powerful on peace and war is accepted as a faithful representation of reality.
Instead, considered out of touch are those who do not accept notions of humanitarian wars and bombings or that North Korea has now overtaken the jihadists as the danger to peace.
The inference in this belief is that under siege are not the millions of people who daily live badly, if not in danger, but countries that have benefited the most from industrialization and human development.
But, the danger for the West comes from its unsustainable economic and social systems and their impact on nature and not from North Korea’s nuclear weapons.
It would be fair and honest to ask North Korea to disarm if the powerful also disarmed.
To date only the self-proclaimed key representative of the free world, America, and not totalitarian North Korea, has dropped atomic bombs on populations.
There are difficulties for superpowers like the USA to exercise self-restraint, particularly in a climate where respect for international law is diminished.
If the international scene is reduced to resemble the Far West, where the bully with the most lethal weapons prevails, the real danger to peace, freedom and sovereignty of peoples, as long as North Korea does not attack another country, is the United States of America.
