Secondo una ricerca dell’istituto Ipsos per Le Monde condotto giorni dopo i tragici eventi di Charlie Hebdo, per il 53% dei francesi il paese è «in guerra» contro il terrorismo, ma alla marcia hanno provato un sentimento di «fraternità» il 59%, mentre si sono sentiti «più legati» al proprio paese l’89%. Sono sentimenti e pareri comprensibili verso il gran nemico dell’Occidente di oggi – sotto guida degli Usa – il terrorismo.
Però, tra gli altri inspiegabili fatti della tragedia francese, c’è la mancanza di qualunque figura di spicco del governo americano alla marcia (quell’enorme esercito dell’opinione pubblica a Parigi era senza il suo capo).
La risposta propagandistica dello Stato superava quella nel 27 ottobre del 2005 quando due giovani francesi di origine maliana e tunisina sono stati folgorati mentre fuggivano dalla polizia.
La loro morte ha scatenato quasi tre settimane di disordini in 274 città. I rivoltosi, per lo più adolescenti disoccupati hanno causato oltre 200 milioni di Euro in danni mettendo in fiamme quasi 9000 vetture e decine di edifici, centri diurni, e scuole; gli arrestati erano circa 2900; 126 poliziotti e vigili del fuoco sono rimasti feriti, e fu una fatalità. Nei confronti di questa rivolta urbana il ministro degli Interni Nicolas Sarkozy dichiarò una brutale politica di “tolleranza zero”.
Questa intolleranza degli Stati Occidentali verso le problematiche domestiche – disoccupazione e disparità sociali e economiche – è una politica molto diffusa.
Ma il vero terrore quotidiano nell’Occidente non è quello musulmano, ma quello di una crescente incapacità di sostenere un tono di vita insopportabile che crea condizione disumane e mette a rischio il pianeta.

La foto sulla copertina di questo numero di NP è stata trasmessa in Australia il 21 gennaio dal programma umoristico della televisione inglese, Adam Hills: The Last Leg.
Se l’immagine è vera conferma il preoccupante rischio delle notizie ufficiali, costruite e diffuse con lo scopo di influenzare l’opinione pubblica nel mondo.
L’immagine – potente – che il mondo ha conosciuto era dei leaders dei governi principali dell’Europa occidentale, abbraciati in solidarietà alla testa della protesta contro l’orrore che è sucesso a Charlie Hebdo.
Invece la foto trasmessa dal The Last Leg, se è reale, rivela una realtà diversa. I leaders non erano alla testa della imponente protesta di milioni di persone a Parigi ma in una via isolata per facilitare il foto shoot.
Niente di straordinario visto la grande tensione del momento e le legittime preoccupazioni per la sicurezza dei massimi esponenti politici.
La straordinarietà è che la diffusione di quell’immagine dai servizi di news lasciava l’interpretazione che i politici erano alla testa della protesta.
Dunque, sappiamo quello che è successo a Charlie Hebdo e quello che sta accadendo in quelle zone tormentate del medio oriente? E in più, quanto suscettibili siamo alle notizie confenzionate sullo stile della reality tv?
Le morti causate nell’Occidente dai terroristi sono insignificanti in confronto alle morti in incidenti stradali, alle morti sul posto di lavoro e alle morti da un consumismo nocivo.
E il terrore per noi non viene dal bombardamento incessante, e nemmeno dai jihadisti, ma da una vita economicamente sempre più stressante.
Questo è la realtà che i servizi di news dovrebbero raccontare invece di essere complice di notizie che assomigliano più ad una sceneggiatura hollywoodiana di grado B.

[b]Terror, terror on the wall[/b]
According to research, by the institute Ipsos for Le Monde conducted days after the tragic events of Charlie Hebdo, for 53% of French people the country is “at war” against terrorism, but 59 % sensed a “fraternity” and 89% felt “more connected” to their country. These are understandable Western opinions (with the US leading) against today’s main enemy – – terrorism.
However, among other unexplained facts of the French tragedy, is a lack of any prominent figure of the American government at the march (that army of public opinion in Paris was without its leader).
The French State’s propagandistic response far exceeded that of the October 2005 uprising when two French youths of Malian and Tunisian origin were electrocuted while fleeing police. Their deaths sparked nearly three weeks of riots in 274 cities, by mostly unemployed teenagers, caused more than € 200 million in damages from 9,000 cars, buildings, day care centers, and schools burnt; saw about 2900 arrests; injured 126 police officers and firefighters, and caused a fatality. Against this urban revolt Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy declared a brutal policy of “zero tolerance”.
This intolerance of Western States to domestic problems – unemployment and socio-economic inequality – is widespread and ignores the real daily terror in the West which is not a Muslim one but one from a growing inability to sustain living standards and lifestyles that cause inhumane conditions and threaten the planet.

The photo on the cover of this issue of NP was broadcast in Australia on January 21 on the ABC’s Adam Hills: The Last Leg.
If the image is true it confirms the worrying risk from official news, constructed and disseminated to influence global public opinion.
The powerful image seen by the world was of key leaders of Western European governments, embracing in solidarity at the head of the protest against the horror at Charlie Hebdo.
Instead the photo from The Last Leg, if true, reveals a different reality. The leaders were not at the head of the massive protest of millions of people in Paris but in an isolated street to facilitate the photo shoot.
This is nothing extraordinary given the then great tension and legitimate security concerns for the political figures.
The extraordinary thing is that the news image broadcast led to the popular interpretation that the politicians were at the head of the protest.
Therefore, do we know what really happened at Charlie Hebdo, and what is happening in the tormented Middle East? Further, how susceptible are we to packaged news in the style of reality TV?
The deaths caused by terrorists in the West are insignificant in comparison to the deaths from road accidents, workplace deaths and deaths from harmful consumerism.
Our fear is not from incessant bombardment, or even by jihadists, but from an increasingly financially stressful life.
This is the reality that should concern news services instead of being party to news feeds that look more like the script of a B grade Hollywood movie.
