Le crociate del repubblicano Reagan contro “l’impero del male” (l’Urss) e del repubblicano Bush contro «il nemico oscuro che si nasconde negli angoli bui della Terra» (al Qaeda) si sono trasformati nella nuova crociata del democratico pre-sidente statunitense Barack Obama (vincitore del premio Nobel per la pace!) contro lo “Stato islamico dell’Iraq e della Siria. La politica delle guerre “umanitarie” si rivela sempre di più di una guerra contro i civili sia all’estero che a casa. Perchè per ogni raid aereo che Obama ordina sui jihadisti, è come se fosse un bombardamento sulle prospettive di pace e progresso. La politica estera americana è sempre più necessaria per comandare dividendo – fuori e dentro casa.
Per esempio, il Congresso in sette anni non ha voluto varare l’aumento del salario minimo a $10.10 e ad oggi quella sulla sanità pubblica rimane l’unico contributo concreto al welfare, così sistematicamente smantel-lato dalle politiche liberiste delle precedenti amministrazioni repubblicane.
E’ difficile non dare retta al presidente della Federazione Russa Vladimir Putin che ha detto recentemente che gli Stati Uniti stanno cercando di “far rivivere i sistemi di governance globale al fine di rivendicare la propria eccezionalità e per ottenere vantaggi economici e politici”.
Il risultato e che a casa il sogno americano perde la sua forza propulsiva e fuori casa la gente che ha subito l’effetto delle guerre americane si rende conto che sono tutt’altro che umanitarie.
The American dream becomes a nightmare
The crusades of the Republican Reagan against the “evil empire” (the USSR) and the Republican Bush against “the enemy dark hiding in the dark corners of the earth” (al-Qaeda) have become, for Democratic US President Barack Obama (winner of the Nobel Prize for Peace), a crusade against the “Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.
The “humanitarian” war is becoming more a war against civilians both abroad and at home. For every raid that Obama orders against the jihadists is a bombardment on the prospects of peace and progress and American foreign policy is increasingly needed to control by dividing – domestically and overseas.
For example, Congress in seven years has not been able to increase the minimum wage to $ 10.10 and today a marginal improvement to public health services remains the only real contribution to the welfare system dismantled by the neoliberal policies of previous administrations.
It is hard to ignore comments by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, who recently said that the US is trying to “revive the system of global governance in order to claim its uniqueness and for economic and political benefits.”
The result is that at home the American dream is losing its driving force and overseas people, who have suffered the effects of American led wars, realize that they are anything but humanitarian.
